High power transient Radio Frequency (RF) waveforms represent a challenge to the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and in particular the immunity of electronic systems. The development of quick and easy to use intermediate level models designed to assess the impact and coupling of these waveforms to victim system cabling is a useful step towards providing solutions to this problem.

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) is dual-sided problem in electrical engineering because electric appliances can be on one hand very sensitive, but unintentional receptors, and on another hand they can be entirely unintentional transmitters or even both of them in one. The transmitters being in the receptors neighbourhood constitute electromagnetic environment to design the electromagnetic compatible appliances means firstly that the designed appliances do not excessively pollute the electromagnetic environment, and secondly that these appliances are not vulnerable receptors of disturbances from this environment. Commutator motors are the EMI sources, and are worth to be carefully considered how to be improved due to their EMI emission.

In this paper the transient interference signal is studied in-depth. Firstly, the formation mechanism of the interference signal is analyzed from both the qualitative and quantitative. Then characteristics of such signal are obtained by analyzing the ideal and the experimental electrical fast transient signal both in time and frequency domain, which are useful to comprehensively understand transient interference signal. And some valuable information may be provided to the related design.

The baseband signal will be influenced by the channel which bandwidth is limited with external interference, the baseband signal will generate inter symbol interference. The raised cosine FIR filter is usually used to suppress inter symbol interference in statistical detection, and it also needs strict synchronous. This paper gives out a method to suppress inter symbol interference by the transient detection, which can eliminate the external interference at same time in the process of detecting detected signal, The experiment about suppression of the inter symbol interference and the additive white noise in the transient detection theory is also set up, which can play a more effective role in suppressing the inter symbol interference.
